Hugo is a little starfish and so it’s not surprising that in this story he comes across several bigger fish in the ocean. Sadly, they are bigger fish with the wrong attitudes – they’re bullies! After seeing his friend getting bullied, Hugo decides enough is enough. He forms the Anti-Bully Club and teaches the bullies a valuable lesson about respect.
‘THE LAST BULLY’ is a confidence-boosting book for children, showing them that being different is OK and the best way to deal with bullies is to tell someone about it.
It’s unfortunate that bullying is so prevalent in schools now. Even in the lower grades. My oldest is only 7 and we’ve already had a few incidents. This was a great book about being strong and standing up to bullies. My son enjoyed reading it and he read it to his younger brother several times. The pictures are bright and engaging and kept both their attention. Hugo teaches that it’s ok to be different and that if your being bullied you need to tell an adult. There are other books in the Hugo series also. I plan on buying some of the others for my boys. They enjoy these so much!
